Between imposing consoles with hard stone shelves and the beautiful Hall of Clocks

On the second floor, you can admire still life paintings from the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. On a generic beginning of Flemish experiences and, to a lesser extent, Spanish, one catches the innovative, naturalistic and enlightened vision of Michelangelo da Caravaggio. All these experiences will quickly culminate in the complete and personal compositional and colour freedom of the Neapolitan artists.

the Second Floor

Foreign landscape painters who document the evolution of landscape painting from the eighteenth to the nineteenth century and a valuable collection of landscape paintings by nineteenth-century Neapolitan artists belonging to the famous “School of Posillipo” with works by Pitloo, Duclère, Gigante and Palizzi.
